What part of Anthropic’s deal is confirmed?
In November 2025, Anthropic, Microsoft and NVIDIA announced a partnership. Anthropic said it would purchase up to $30 billion in Azure capacity and could contract for additional capacity; NVIDIA and Microsoft committed to invest up to $10 billion and up to $5 billion, respectively, in Anthropic. They also agreed to collaborate on optimizing models and NVIDIA systems. “Up to” sets a stated ceiling; it does not mean the full amount has already been paid.
Anthropic has described a compute strategy spanning NVIDIA, Google and Amazon platforms. In April 2026 it reported run-rate revenue above $30 billion and an agreement with Amazon for up to five gigawatts of capacity. Run-rate revenue is not profit and does not by itself show how each contract will be funded.
Where does NVIDIA appear in Lambda?
In February 2025, Lambda announced a $480 million funding round that included NVIDIA as an investor. Lambda also sells infrastructure using NVIDIA GPUs. Those facts show an investment and a technology-supply relationship; they do not by themselves confirm a six-year, $35 billion Anthropic contract with Lambda.
I found no public primary-source confirmation for that figure or a comparable $45 billion Anthropic agreement with Nscale. I also found no primary-source confirmation that NVIDIA is negotiating a $2 billion Nscale investment as an IPO anchor. I therefore do not add those amounts as confirmed commitments.
What does the Hut 8 example establish?
In July 2026, Hut 8 announced leases for 352 megawatts at its Beacon Point campus in Texas. It did not publicly identify the tenant. Hut 8 said the facility was designed around NVIDIA’s DSX reference architecture; that describes the planned design and technology, not proof that NVIDIA is the tenant or is financing the capacity.
The distinction matters: a design using NVIDIA technology, an NVIDIA investment and a lease are different relationships. Only the parties’ documents can establish who pays, who guarantees the project and who absorbs a loss if utilization falls short.
What question should investors follow?
The documented relationship is already worth watching: NVIDIA sells processors used in parts of the infrastructure, invests across the ecosystem and participates in third-party capital-financing arrangements. In August 2026 it announced memoranda with several financial firms to create platforms seeking to mobilize more than $500 billion in third-party capital over time. That is not a $500 billion NVIDIA check or financing already delivered.
The useful question is not whether every connection amounts to “circular financing.” It is how much of NVIDIA’s future demand depends on customers securing enough revenue, contracts and capital to keep infrastructure running. When Anthropic publishes financial results, we can compare capacity commitments with observable revenue and costs. Until then, separate announced amounts, capital actually committed and money already disbursed.
Primary sources: Anthropic, Microsoft and NVIDIA, strategic partnership (November 18, 2025); Anthropic and Amazon, compute expansion (April 20, 2026); Lambda, funding round (February 19, 2025); Hut 8, Beacon Point lease (July 20, 2026); NVIDIA, platforms to mobilize third-party capital (August 10, 2026). Not finding public confirmation in these sources does not prove that a private agreement does not exist.
Frequently asked questions
Did Anthropic sign a $35 billion deal with Lambda?
I found no confirmation of that deal in the public primary sources reviewed. Lambda did announce NVIDIA as an investor in its February 2025 funding round, and its materials describe NVIDIA GPU cloud services.
Did NVIDIA commit $2 billion to Nscale and does Anthropic have a $45 billion contract with it?
I found no public primary-source support for either figure, so I do not present them as confirmed facts.
Did NVIDIA invest in Anthropic?
In November 2025, Anthropic, Microsoft and NVIDIA announced a partnership. NVIDIA committed to invest up to $10 billion. “Up to” is a maximum, not evidence that the full amount has already been paid.
What is NVIDIA’s connection to Hut 8?
Hut 8 announced Texas data-center leases in July 2026 for an unnamed customer. It said the facility design follows NVIDIA’s DSX reference architecture; that does not establish that NVIDIA leases or finances the site.
